Workday Wednesday: Charles J. Dahlquist, Shoe Dealer

My great-great-grandfather Charles John (Carl Johan) Dahlquist was a a shoe dealer in Chicago, Illinois. In 1895, he went into business with Axel E. Swanson. They had a store at 6031 State Street. By 1902, the store had moved to 511 W. 63rd Street. By 1906 he was in business with Swan J. Burkdahl, and the store was Burkdahl & Dahlquist. It was still located at 511 W. 63rd Street. By 1909 he and his son Carl Frederick Dahlquist ran the store, and it was called Dahlquist & Son. The address changed to 409 W. 63rd Street after Chicago's streets were renumbered.
